Involving Families in the Child and Family Services Review (CFSR) Process
November 29, 2007 – 2:30 pm EST

Research points to a widespread need to increase family engagement at the policy and management level. Sponsored by the National Child Welfare Resource Center for Organizational Improvement and the National Resource Center for Family-Centered Practice and Permanency Planning, this call will focus on how to engage families in the process of agency performance assessment and in the processes of planning and implementing program improvements. Presenters from States in the second round of reviews who have successfully involved families in the CFSR process will discuss their experiences and lead a discussion on promising practices.

Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention 2007 Regional Training Program: Police Juvenile Services
December 3-7, 2007 – Charleston, SC

The purpose of this program is to present concepts to build leadership capacity and organizational competency in the planning and delivery of juvenile services. The program will enhance the effectiveness of a juvenile unit or the function of the delivery of juvenile services within a community. The training will demonstrate and promote exchange of information to encourage interagency networking to maximize resources within a community. Effective decisions made to enhance prevention, intervention, and enforcement efforts will be discussed. The program will also address high-risk victims, child protection issues, media relations, and child victimization.

7th Annual Inclusive Schools Week
December 3-7, 2007 (Observance)

Inclusive Schools Week celebrates the progress schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education to all students, including students with disabilities and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and provides an opportunity for educators, students, and parents to discuss what else must be done to ensure that schools continue to improve their ability to successfully educate all children and youth. The theme of this year's observance, "Lessons from the World: Including All Children," provides an opportunity to focus on both accomplishments and challenges associated with changing attitudes, practices, and policies toward better educational outcomes for students around the world.

The Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health 19th Annual Conference
December 7–9, 2007 – Washington, DC

The Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health is sponsoring their 19th Annual Conference, Family-Driven, Youth-Guided Partnerships with Mental Health, Juvenile & Criminal Justice: Defining Excellence & Increasing Success through Practice-Based Evidence. Youth Homelessness Audio Conference
December 13, 2007 – 3:00 p.m. EST

The National Alliance to End Homelessness will host a conference call to present existing data and research on youth homelessness. With at least one million youth on the streets or in shelters and hundreds of thousands more leaving child welfare, juvenile justice, and the child mental health system young people are experiencing homelessness across America in record numbers.

This audio conference will feature a review of existing data and demographics on homeless youth and we will cover reports released earlier this year from the Congressional Research Service, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Government Accountability Office. Additionally, the call will highlight other research relevant to youth homelessness.

Clinical Decision Making for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Care
December 20, 2007 – 1:00-2:30PM EST

This call will explore different types of tools and protocols that States are using for specific purposes (e.g., clinical decision making; quality improvement; outcomes monitoring, etc.) as they seek to make decisions about individualized services and provide oversight to ensure quality outcomes for children and families. The call will delineate the best uses of different tools for accomplishing specific purposes. Tools discussed will include: CANS, CAFAS, CASII, Achenbach measures, Ohio scales, and measures developed by States themselves. The call will focus on the use of standardized instruments within an individualized approach. In addition, presenters will discuss the infrastructure needed to support statewide use of standardized tools and protocols.

National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare's 38th National Conference
May 1-3, 2008 – Boston, MA

The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare is a not-for-profit association representing 1,300 organizations that provide treatment and rehabilitation for mental illnesses and addiction disorders. Their 38th national conference is designed for community behavioral health providers and focuses on enhancing business operations and improving clinical outcomes. The conference will feature over 60 workshops, learning labs, and other sessions. Education sessions are framed around interest area tracks, and registration allows attendees to mix and match sessions from all tracks. All sessions will also offer contact hours for CE and CME.

The National Assembly on School-Based Health Care 2008 National School-Based Health Care Convention
June 25-28, 2008 – Los Angeles, California

The convention will be organized into seven workshop tracks, as listed below, each to include a series of concurrent sessions.
