Drug Free Communities Support Program (DFCSP) grantsThe 2005 Drug Free Communities Support Program (DFCSP) grants will be offered to grantees working to improve community efforts to plan, promote, and deliver effective substance abuse prevention strategies. Approximately $70 million is available in grants from the DFCSP. Grantees will be awarded $100,000 annually for up to five years. The U.S. Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, and Justice invite local educational agencies (LEAs) to apply for federal funding through the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative. The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative provides successful applicants with funding for implementing activities, programs, and services that focus on promoting healthy childhood development and behavior and preventing violence and substance use. Successful applicants are eligible to receive awards of up to $1,000,000 per year for Bureau of Indian Affairs schools, LEAs, or consortia in rural areas; $2,000,000 per year for LEAs or consortia in suburban areas; and $3,000,000 per year for LEAs or consortia in urban areas.
