Summer 2004 System of Care Community Meeting, Keys for Sustaining Change

June 21-22, 2004—San Francisco, CA

This meeting will precede the Georgetown University Training Institutes. The system of care meeting will continue with the sustainability theme initiated in San Antonio, Texas. The system of care meeting will start with a graduation banquet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, and conclude with an all-day meeting on Tuesday, June 22. The banquet will be a time of learning and celebration as the audience hears the most important lessons learned in building sustainable systems of care from 14 communities who are at the end of their federally funded cycle. Learning opportunities will continue on Tuesday with workshops conducted by graduating communities. These workshops will cover areas of financing, family and youth involvement, cultural and linguistic competence, and service array as well as other topics important to system of care development and sustainability.

Dr. Mary Tierney, Technical Assistance Partnership Primary Care Senior Advisor, is a pediatrician with more than 25 years of experience in health care and public health policy emphasizing children and adolescents. She was the Director of the Office of Child Health, Health Care Financing Administration, Department of Health and Human Services and had the responsibility of administering the Federal Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment program (EPSDT). During this call, Dr. Tierney will discuss Medicaid and juvenile justice issues.
