Affinity Calls are open to the Region and are focused on specific content areas and the associated staff including: Direct Service Providers, Project Directors, Family Leaders, Youth (every other month), and TA Coordinators. Several of these calls are shared with Region II, including Project Directs, Direct Service Providers, Family Leaders and Youth. Each call varies in terms of its format and objective. All calls create a forum for peer support and networking. In addition, the national TA liaison participates. For example, Ken Martinez, the Mental Health Resource Specialist, participates on the affinity call for Direct Service Providers. Related Materials: Youth Coordinators
Community Calls are specific to each funded System of Care community across the Region. These calls occur most often monthly; however, depending upon each community’s needs they sometimes occur every other month or even quarterly. System Partners at the national level have a virtual meeting with leaders in the community to identify and meet technical assistance needs.
TA Specific Calls are specific to each funded System of Care community across the Region. These calls occur between the community and their designated TA person from NICWA, National Evaluation, Georgetown University, Communications Campaign, or the Technical Assistance Partnership. These calls occur to provide specific training and technical assistance.
The Region I Web site is a virtual place to celebrate success, share information and stay connected. The site contains valuable information and features a staff member of the Technical Assistance Partnership, monthly TA calendar and listings of frequently requested TA.
The Regional Technical Assistance Coordinator, Nadia Cayce, provides individual orientation to all new staff members for each community. This orientation provides critical information of the supports and services at the regional and national levels specific to each community.
Sharing Successful Strategies E-Letter This E-Letter is simply a highlight of quarterly successes with associated strategies of implementation from each community. Each community sends in their successes and the information is collated and sent around the region and the country!
Under the lead of the TA Coordinators from each community, a strengths matrix was created. Information is being collected from each community in the Region regarding their strengths and abilities to share and “transfer the skills” to other communities.
Under the lead of the TA Coordinators from each community, a Regional Training and TA Team is being created. This team will consist of coaches from each participating community. The Region will use a bartering system along with pooled resources and technology to provide training and technical assistance to System of Care Communities.
Each region is assigned a Regional Technical Assistance Coordinator (RTAC). As a support, depending upon the community, the RTAC partners with a Resource Specialist (RS) to provide comprehensive and coordinated technical assistance. This call, internal to TAP staff, is used to strategize about how to best meet the needs of such diverse communities.
One Coordinated TA Plan (OCTAP) Calls These calls occur with individual communities who wish the support of a comprehensive, national team consisting of both generalists and specialists who are able to meet the diverse needs of communities in addition to the deliverables and expectations set forth by SAMHSA. The RTAC coordinates these efforts with System Partners (ex. Communications Campaign) and the community to prioritize and meet emerging TA needs.
